Action Research Project Problem:
The problem we have is that we have been given some playground equipment that we do not want to send back. Our other problem is that, our campus has been through some construction and so now we have various types of lines and pipes running under the ground to where we cannot dig too far down to secure the playground equipment. We are going to have to research were these lines and pipes are in our small playground and find a good area to safely and securely place the equipment for our students to use it.
Action Research Project Question:
How can we design/layout our playground so that the playground equipment is safely and securely in place to where our students can play on it without getting hurt due to faulty installation?
This is a great action research project. Funny that I read this now because I was at a safety/security audit training all day. I learned that this problem is very common among schools with playgrounds. Several campuses(older ones) generally have gas lines running unders some part of the school. When the equipment is ordered, there is no 'concern' for what is underneath the ground. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you do not have to return the equipment like (I think I heard right) 60% of the schcools in our training did. Safety is the number one issue with your action research project and I think you will have plenty of help forming a team on this topic.

Sounds like you have alot of research ahead of you but you have a solid plan to do it. Organizing and setting up a playground has alot of things to take into consideration. Of coarse the first and most important is safety of the equipment and the location. Good Luck and I hope it all works out smoothly for you!
